關於簡譜

簡譜（Numbered Notation）以 1 到 7 的數字來表示旋律中的每個音，而不是用五線譜上的音符。數字代表這個音在該曲調音階中的級數，而非絕對音高，所以無論用什麼調演唱，同一首曲子的簡譜寫法都一樣。

同一個八度內，數字 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 對應大家熟悉的唱名 Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti。數字上方加一點，表示高八度；下方加一點，表示低八度──不加點則是原本書寫的中央八度。

單獨一個數字代表一拍。數字後面緊接一條短橫線（-），表示這個音延長一拍。數字下方加一條底線則相反，表示縮短時值──一條底線是半拍，兩條底線是四分之一拍。「0」代表休止符，也就是停頓一拍。

譜面最上方的標示，例如「1=C」或「1=Ab」，說明級數 1（「Do」）對應的實際音高。小調樂曲則標示「6=X」──級數 6（「La」）才是真正的主音。音符上方的和絃名稱（如「C」或「G7」）一律使用熟悉的字母名稱，不會改成數字。

例如在「1=C」的標示下，數字 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 唱出來是 C D E F G A B；在「1=G」的標示下，同樣的數字 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 卻唱出 G A B C D E F#──形狀相同，調性不同。

This song blesses and soothes my soul even when I feel low, lost and helpless, my soul gets encouraged and strengthened having in mind that my God can actually speak into my situation and can use me to bless others no matter what surrounds me. This song portrays the perfect relationship with God.

This song has always been a blessing to me. I have not sung it in a long time and this morning as I settle down for my devotions the first line bursts from my lips. I don't know all the lines so I quickly look it up. Verse two Is a direct prayer from my heart as I struggle deeply with a situation. It is my prayer as well "to stretch out a loving hand to (fellow) wrestlers with the troubled sea." Thanks Frances for having made yourself available to the Lord that He could use you in this wonderful way.
