My favourite hymn. Chosen by my mother for her own funeral 16 years ago, and sang at her wedding 50 years ago. Sang by myself as a soprano choirboy 35 years ago, and more recently as I rejoined another choir in another church as a bassist. My mother was disabled, and it brings me great comfort that she did not fear death. As I myself do not. As I know that our faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, will join us together again in life everlasting. Whenever I sing or hear this hymn, I am filled with emotion and yearning, but know in my heart the day will come.

I first learned this song while in High School singing in the youth choir, I think. That was at least 55 years ago. I fell in love with the melody and the words. This song came to me tonight but I couldn't remember all the words so I'm very grateful to see all the verses here so can sing it again completely. This Hymn touches everything from Psalm 23 and has been crafted by true men of God. If only “the World” would listen and learn of our Lord and Saviours love for them it would be a far, far better place for all.
People can know the King of love by them
repenting (Mark 1 verse 4) and believing the gospel (which is that Jesus died taking away their sins with its guilt and punishment) and rose again.

I first came across this hymn in my High School Assembly days over 50 years ago. Since then, it has become a part of me especially in my private and public worship. In my church, for one or two years, it became our closing hymn. Every verse of is impactful anytime I sing. The hymn is spiritually and carefully crafted from Psalm 23. I have a hearing loss, mainly caused by loud noises - even before I was born by German bombings on Manchester UK. One of the results is, without my hearing aids, I hear "streams of living water, which then makes me feel more at peace.

I sang this hymn and went to bed and experienced a wonderful trance with a healing from my prolonged illness. It was miraculous.
This remains a remarkable experience for me and a testimony of the beauty of praise.
