You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase

E448
1
You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase,
  And have earnestly, fervently prayed;
But you cannot have rest, or be perfectly blest,
  Until all on the altar is laid.

Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
  Your heart, does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest,
    As you yield Him your body and soul.
2
Would you walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
  And have peace and contentment alway;
You must do His sweet will to be free from all ill;
  On the altar your all you must lay.
3
Oh, we never can know what the Lord will bestow
  Of the blessings for which we have prayed,
Till our body and soul He doth fully control,
  And our all on the altar is laid.
4
Who can tell all the love He will send from above!
  Oh, how happy our heart will be made!
Oh, what fellowship sweet we shall share at His feet,
  When our all on the altar is laid!

APPREHENDING, APPRECIATING,

EXPERIENCING, AND PRESENTING CHRIST

According to Leviticus 3 , the peace offering could be of various animals from the herd or from the flock. One offerer might present a bull, another might present a lamb, and yet another might present a goat (Exo. 24:5; Lev. 3:1, 7 , 12; 4:10; 9:4 ; Num. 6:14 ; 7:17). The different kinds of peace offerings signify the different degrees to which we enjoy Christ. In Himself Christ is the same. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes even forever. ” However, in our apprehension, appreciation, experience, and presentation of Him, He is different. One believer may enjoy Christ as a bull, another may enjoy Him as a lamb, and yet another may enjoy Him as a goat. A lamb is mild and gentle (Isa. 53:7), but a goat is wild. Christ may be a gentle lamb to a believer who testifies of his enjoyment of Christ as his sweet peace between him and God. At the same time, Christ may be a goat to a believer who testifies of his experience of Christ as the peace between him and his wife after exchanging words. In Himself, Christ is the same, but according to our experience, He is different.

The song came to my heart as I longed for more of God. I was most blessed by the line: you can only be blessed as you yield Him your body and soul.

This Sunday morning, it was so cold , snow everywhere. I felt I should sit back at home and have a personal fellowship with the Lord. My soul longed for a deep walk with the Lord. This hymn of consecration we always sang in the 70s in choir filled my spirit and I searched for it. I'm so overwhelmed with the Holy Spirit.

After long hours of night prayers, I was directed to sit in the living room. Lo and behold, I slept off with series of victory in the dream then I heard a sweet voice singing the song until I woke up. I was led to Google it so I could fully sing it. Oh God, I'm ready to lay EVERYTHING on the altar. So help me Jesus Christ.

I’ve had the experience lately of reserving my body for myself. My health or how I feel controls my giving myself to the Lord absolutely. These sentences stood out to me today as I sang this song. “Yield Him your body and soul” “Till our body and soul, He doth fully control” This is not the first time the Lord has asked for absolute surrender… I surely appreciate this song and the experience of our brother laying all on the alter and becoming happy in his heart. I pray I can experience this also.
