1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
G
I'm pressing on the
G7
upward
C
way,
New heights I'm
G
gaining every
D
day;
Still
D7
praying
G
as I
G7
onward
C
bound,
"Lord, plant my
G
feet on high
D7
er
G
ground."
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
G
Lord, lift me up, and let me
D
stand
By faith on
D7
Canaan's table
G
land;
A higher plane than
G7
I have
C
found,
Lord, plant my
G
feet on
D7
higher
G
ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
G
My heart has no
G7
desire to
C
stay
Where doubts
G
arise and fears
D
dismay;
Though
D7
some may
G
dwell where
G7
these
C
abound,
My prayer,
G
my aim, is
D7 G
higher ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
G
Lord, lift me up, and let me
D
stand
By faith on
D7
Canaan's table
G
land;
A higher plane than
G7
I have
C
found,
Lord, plant my
G
feet on
D7
higher
G
ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
G
I want to live
G7
above the
C
world,
Though Satan's
G
darts at me are
D
hurled;
For
D7
faith has
G
caught the
G7
joyful
C
sound,
The song of
G
saints on
D7
higher
G
ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
G
Lord, lift me up, and let me
D
stand
By faith on
D7
Canaan's table
G
land;
A higher plane than
G7
I have
C
found,
Lord, plant my
G
feet on
D7
higher
G
ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till rest I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."
G
I want to scale the
G7
utmost
C
height
And catch a
G
gleam of glory
D
bright;
But
D7
still I'll
G
pray till
G7
rest I've
C
found,
"Lord, lead me
G
on to
D7
higher
G
ground."
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
G
Lord, lift me up, and let me
D
stand
By faith on
D7
Canaan's table
G
land;
A higher plane than
G7
I have
C
found,
Lord, plant my
G
feet on
D7
higher
G
ground.

St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada
It is one of those great hymns that reaches deep within and demands a higher level of commitment to the Lordship of Christ in our daily walk in this filthy world. It shakes the inner man to a level of discontent and inspires us to move forward in an upward path of growth in the Lord.
Warri, Delta, Nigeria
It's inspirational... God indeed is mighty and moves on men to do great works. God bless the composer with more knowledge and insights to do more to the Glory of God.
Kumasi, Ghana
Such a powerful song. It draws me closer to God any time I listen.
Lagos, Nigeria
This song takes me so close to heaven every time I concentrate on the Wordings! It is AWESOME!
But I think the chorus line 2 is 'By Faith on heaven's Stable land or Canaan's Stable land and not 'Table land' at all!
Nairobi, Kenya
I love this song. It uplifts my soul.
Cape, Central, Ghana
Jesus is King!
Maryland, Enugu, Nigeria
The anointing of the composition is what moves this song. God's glory comes down when the song is raised. It is a song of hope for me. God bless the generation of the composer and the saints all over the world.
Port Harcourt, Nigeria
This song is a masterpiece ever fresh to inspire, revive, renew my commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen me in my walk with God. It gives me hope of eternal rest, reward on the last day when the race is over. Praise God. Amen.
Karu Site, Abuja, Nigeria
This is one of many other spiritual songs that can take you straight into the presence of God and away from this world and its troubles.
God bless the composer real good.
Dakar, Senegal
A lifting up song. I love it.
