I’ve found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me

E210 P111 T210
1
I’ve found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me,
  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Apple-tree of trees, in Him alone I see
  All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay,
  He tells me every care on Him to roll:
He’s the Apple-tree of trees, the Bright and Morning Star,
  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He all my griefs has taken, and all my sorrows borne;
  In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;
I’ve all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn
  From my heart, and now He keeps me by His power.
Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
  Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal:
He’s the Apple-tree of trees, the Bright and Morning Star,
  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
He all my griefs has taken, and all my sorrows borne;
  In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;

Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
  Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal:

  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He’ll never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,
  While I live by faith and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear,
  With His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessed face,
  Where rivers of delight shall ever roll:
He’s the Apple-tree of trees, the Bright and Morning Star,
  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
He’ll never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,
  While I live by faith and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear,
  With His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessed face,
  Where rivers of delight shall ever roll:
He’s the Apple-tree of trees, the Bright and Morning Star,
  He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

Enjoying this song while hearing the verse Zech 2:5 "a wall of fire about her". What a consoling friend we have in Jesus! He is our defender, strengthening us, for His building!

All believers in Our Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I salute you all. I've truly enjoyed each write up and I'm glad God used the composer to reach you all and also millions arround the globe. For me this song would forever make my day till He takes me. May God bless the composer and remember him when His kingdom shall come.

My favourite song since my childhood days; any time I listen to it, I get connected and spiritually find myself at the feet of Jesus experiencing divine care, guidance and rest. I bless the Lord for the writer and the lyrics.

Just now Lord let me see something about myself. But thank You Lord, I have found a Friend in You. Lord cleanse me and make me fully whole with You. Thank You Lord for everything. Everything is for me to see myself and know You more. Lord, be everything to me. Thank You for being my Friend! How sweet, how fresh, how marvelous You are, my Friend.

Thanks to hymnal.net and to all you good Christians around the globe. I remember my parents singing this song in duet as we drove along during my childhood. What a spiritual boost to hear it again.. BUT I remember the later line different..Instead of the "Apple tree of Apples" I recall it as "He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star."

God's love to you all.
