Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised

1
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
In the city of our God,
In the mountain of His holiness.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.
Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.

In 1982, while in Australia, my brother and I were led to True Vine Christian Community in N. S. W. We were saved there and stayed a year. We used to sing this song which I later found in the Book of Psalms! I was and still am happy that not only is it a good song (great song) but by singing it, you are also learning scripture. We also sang Exalt the Lord our God which comes from Psalm 99 vs 5. Praise Ye The Lord! God Bless you all.

I too have always loved this song. Yes the correct words are beautiful in situation in the KJV however the phrase beautiful in elevation is just another translation from the ESV version. Both are correct in meaning however the original writing was situation.

"Beautiful for situation" is the King James phrasing which means: "Beautiful in elevation" so both phrases are accurate within the lyrics.

I am in a prayer meeting and the lady who wanted to give us exaltation quoted psalm 48 verses 1-8 and I found that verse 1 and 2 are the lyrics of the song I always loved singing then I decided to get the correct lyrics.

I'll use it for my worship all through this week.
