Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised

1
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
In the city of our God,
In the mountain of His holiness.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.
Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.

Beautiful Scripture set to music!

Correction: the correct wording is "beautiful for situation". This little song is verbatim from Psalm 48:1-2 (KJV), and this is the correct wording from the Scripture.

I knew this song 'from the womb'. It was one of my family's favorites for devotion while growing up; my dad loves it so much that we hardly missed it in any devotion.

Waking up at 3:15am to read some Psalms, pray and confess God's Words/promises, this beautiful song dropped in my heart. I needed the correct lyrics and the chapter of Psalms, then google directed me here...

Thank you for this. I was missing my mom today and heard this song being played in our center so I went and saw one teacher teaching a student I love so deeply. It was so good for me to see this student learning and the teachers heart so generous to teach and to hear and sing along .... then to find it here ..

I kept singing this to myself but wasn't sure of a few words. It has been a long time since I've heard it. This was wonderful refreshing of my memory and my spirit.

Every time I sing this beautiful hymn I remember a wonderful brother who is with the Lord now. His name was Guy Uechi. This was one of his favorite hymns and he would lead us in singing it in the Lord's day meetings sometimes. Guy was small in stature but his voice was so powerful. And his spirit was so strong. He glowed with the Lord when he spoke and sang. He would often pray with me on my way to work in the mornings by phone and he taught me how to call on the Lord. This brother was an inspiration to me. Guy went to be with the Lord and left four beautiful children and a beautiful wife. He left in the prime of his life and we in Ann Arbor, Michigan will never forget him.
