Jesus, keep me near the cross

1
Jesus, keep me near the cross,
  There a precious fountain,
Free to all—a healing stream,
  Flows from Calv’ry’s mountain.
  In the cross, in the cross,
  Be my glory ever;
From the cross my ransomed soul
    Nothing then shall sever.
2
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
  Love and mercy found me;
There the Bright and Morning Star
  Sheds its beams around me.
3
Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
  Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
  With its shadow o’er me.
4
Near the cross I’ll watch and wait,
  Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I see my Savior’s face,
  Leave His presence never.

This song reminds of home and I never really paid attention to the song until I came to Tallahassee and it gave me peace to study and help me through out my day.

Thank you for posting this song/hymn. I woke up with it on my heart and so after my devotion I looked it up and found it here and thoroughly enjoyed singing it. Will sing it later with my family. Praise the Lord God for the Cross! May we glory in it always! Thank God for the security we have in our relationship to Christ! Indeed nothing will sever us from Christ and His cross! Jesus richly bless you all this Resurrection Monday! He is risen indeed! He has triumphed by His cross! Hallelujah!

My husband is a drunk. On those bad nights when he come in and want to raise all kind of fuss. I turn to this song and find peace in the midst of the storm. Believing their is no secret what God can do as long as I stay near the cross. I always say my husband must be my cross to bear because everyone has one.

Wow! This brings back memories; baptist church in Cape Town: I am now 75 yrs old: I remember this hymn was sung when a call was made to give your heart to Jesus our Redeemer: a sister started singing this hymn.

I love this link; I have found so many childhood memories.

Sundays after lunch; someone starts singing and everyone joins in.

Always remember singing in the family: no matter what the occasion: and I still do that even now being alone.

alone? I do not think so with this link and new songs to learn; and old ones to sing as loud as I can: praising the Lord: wow: what a privilege: thank you again hymnal.net you bring so much joy to millions of people.

I tell everyone about your link. God bless.

Actually the love JESUS had for me, for dying a very painful and shameful death on the cross, makes me shed tears. OH JESUS REMEMBER ME IN PARADISE. AMEN.

In the cross I was healed.

Because of the cross we are all free through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Father we thank You for what You have done in our life.
