Since long ago at Bethany we parted, Within my heart there is a ceaseless void; How can I take my harp down from the willow? How can my songs without Thee be enjoyed? And when at night I’m keeping lonely vigil— Grown numb alike to sorrow and to cheer— Then I recall the promise of Thy coming, But sigh: O Lord, why, why Thou dost not yet appear?

Thy manger wakes the thought: I too am homeless; Thy cross strips earthly pleasures from my soul; Thy coming bids me seek a better country, For Thou Thyself art now my final goal. Since Thou art gone my joy has lost its flavor, My song the sweetness I would fain convey. Since Thou art gone the sense of void o’erwhelms me. Oh, how I long that Thou wilt come and not delay.

What exile cannot but desire his homeland And long his people once again to greet? What soul on alien soil forgets his kindred? What parted lovers never yearn to meet? Lord, this desperation.
I cannot breathe without You, O Lord.
Stay one moment longer. Before I flee from Your presence.
Lord, cause us to love You more. Show us Your preciousness. Appear to us in Your word. Infuse us with Yourself. We want to remain on the firm foundation of God and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart! Keep us standing in Your word and loving Your appearing today, in these last days before Your return.

In my Bible reading I came to Matthew 9:14-15. The disciples of John were perplexed that Jesus and His disciples were feasting and enjoying while they themselves were fasting. The Lord's response is how can they fast when they have Me, the lovely bridegroom with them? But a day is coming when they will fast. Why do they fast? The fast not because of religious duty but because the bridegroom is not with them. They obtain from being stupified by this world. Wow. I was so touched. Lord am I fasting in this age or have I replaced You with other things because of your absence? Saints this is the time to fast because we know that nothing here can compare to the enjoyment of our dear Bridegroom.
