1
All I have in Adam is but sin and death,
I in Christ inherit life and righteousness;
When in flesh abiding, Adam I express,
But when in the spirit Christ is manifest.
2
When I am in Adam, though I may not sin,
Unto death, a sinner, sentenced I have been;
When in Christ I need not righteously to act,
I’m already righteous, justified in fact.
3
In the flesh I need no effort to express
Marks of Adam’s nature and its sinfulness;
In the spirit I need not to strive or strain,
I can live as He is and in spirit reign.
4
Thru my death with Christ, from Adam I am free,
Thru my life with Christ, new life is given me!
Minding not the flesh, old Adam cannot move,
Minding just the spirit, life divine I prove.
5
Minding just the spirit is God’s saving way,
Minding just the spirit, Christ we will display;
Minding just the spirit, we can overcome,
Minding just the spirit, we the race may run.
6
Minding just the spirit, we the cross will know,
And His resurrection pow’r thru us will flow;
Minding just the spirit, Christ will live thru me,
And His life within will reach maturity.
7
In the spirit Christ is life and all to me,
Strengthening and blessing all-inclusively;
Living in the spirit, holiness I prove,
And the triune God within my heart doth move.

III. WHAT WE HAVE IN ADAM

----------------

1) “For as through the disobedience of one man [Adam] the many were constituted sinners”(Rom. 5:19).

Of all the things which we have in Adam, the first is sin. The first thing Adam passed on to us was sin. To be sinful and to be sinners, we do not need to commit sins. Through the disobedience of the one man, Adam, we are already sinful and are constituted sinners. Adam was sinful and was a sinner through disobedience. We also are sinful and are sinners as long as we are in him.

2) “So then, as it was through one offense [the one in Eden] unto condemnation to all men”(Rom. 5:18).

Since we are sinners and are sinful in Adam, we are under condemnation. Since Adam caused us to be sinners, he also caused us to be condemned. We all participated in his one offense in the garden of Eden because we were all in him. While he was sinning, we were all in him, sinning with him. He included us and brought us with him when he sinned.

3) “For as in Adam all die”(1 Cor. 15:22).

Of all the items that we have obtained and now possess in Adam, the first is sin, the second is condemnation, and the third is death. Since we have sin, we are condemned; since we have condemnation, we will surely die. The result of sin and condemnation is death. This death is in Adam and includes several levels of meaning. First, it is the death of the spirit, that is, the human spirit losing its function because of the break in its fellowship with God. Second, it is the death of the body, that is, the human body losing its life and returning to dust. Third, it is the death of the soul, that is, the human soul going to Hades to be tormented (Luke 16:22-25). Fourth, it is the second death, that is, the human spirit, soul, and body being cast into the lake of fire to suffer the eternal torment (Rev. 20:15 ; 21:8). Today the spirits of the people of the world are dead to God. One day their bodies will die and their souls will go to Hades to be tormented. In the last day, their spirit, soul, and body will be resurrected and will come together to be cast into the lake of fire to be tormented eternally, which is the final and eternal death. These are the significances included in death, the common portion in Adam of the entire world.

V. WHAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST

--------------------

We were born of Adam, having the things in Adam, which are the means by which our old man in Adam lives. When we are transferred into Christ, we also possess the riches in Christ, which are the means by which our new man in Christ lives. Such riches in Christ are innumerable. Those that we have chosen as important are listed below.

1) “Through the obedience of the One [Christ] shall the many be constituted righteous”. (Rom. 5:19).

2) “Through one righteous act [the one at Golgotha] unto justification of life to all men”. (Rom. 5:18).

3) “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive”(1 Cor. 15:22)

4) “Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ”. (Eph. 1:3 4)

5) “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God: both righteousness and sanctification and redemption”. (1 Cor. 1:30).

6) “... in Christ, there is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, they have become new”. (2 Cor. 5:17).

We also became a new creation in Christ. The old things in Adam have passed away and they have become new in Christ. This is a result of being transferred from Adam into Christ.

This hymn is truly the key to our Christian life. This is at the core and was emphasized by brother Lee (that’s what we called Him then) so much. We must know our spirit and the speaking of the Spirit! It is so easy to miss this basic thing. The Spirit brings Christ to the very center of our being. This is where Christ can be so real and we can receive spiritual things. It’s also where our Old Adam must go to the cross. By experiencing this Spirit and knowing Him in life and death we can grow. All we receive from our old man is sin and death! Wow. We really do need to have that realization.

I am free from Adam, and have new life through Christ, living in His resurrection!

"All I have in Adam, is but sin and death..." This fact drives me to my spirit, to be pressed into Christ, and to have Christ wrought into me... this is the spiritual principle of gaining Christ.

Brother Lee tells us not to be disappointed because sin, flesh and Satan force us to desperately seek the mingled Spirit.

THEN

"I, in Christ, inherit life and righteousness!" This great fact... oh, Lord, may we really, truly, actually see and experience LIFE and RIGHTEOUSNESS. I am a little bothered that I only see these two things, as if "through a glass, darkly" (1 Cor. 13:12, KJV, "obscurely", RcV), seeing only in part. But, praise Him, together we can apprehend with all the saints, all the vast dimensions of God!

“Minding just the spirit is God’s saving way,

Minding just the spirit, Christ we will display;

Minding just the spirit, we can overcome,

Minding just the spirit, we the race may run. ”

Thank you Lord for my spirit! We can overcome by exercising our spirit! Praise the Lord!

Romans 5:12 Therefore just as through one man(Adam) sin entered into the world, and through sin, death; and thus death passed on to all men because all have sinned--5:17 For if by the offense of the one(Adam), death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

5:21 In order that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Praise the Lord! I in Christ inherit life and righteousness, and in the spirit Christ I manifest! In Christ I need not righteously to act, for I’m already righteous, justified in fact! In the spirit I need not to strive or strain, for I can live as Christ is and in spirit reign! Thru my death with Christ, I am free, and thru my life with Christ, new life is given me! By minding just the spirit, I have God’s saving way, Christ I can display, I can overcome, and I the race may run! By minding just the spirit, Christ will live thru me, and His life within me will reach maturity!

When we believed into the Lord Jesus, our eyes were opened; we realized that we lived in sin and under condemnation, and by His mercy, we turned from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God.

Hallelujah thru our death with Christ, from Adam we are free! We can overcome everything thru His ressurection power 😀

Thank you Lord Jesus 🙏

Minding just the SPIRIT

For those who are according to the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but those who are according to the spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace. 7 Because the mind set on the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, for neither can it be. 8 And those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. (Romans 8:5-9)

The key is how we use our mind. Lord Jesus train us to mind the spirit for Your recovery.

Learning to Speak the Hymns

The former way of having a certain person call hymns, pray, and speak has been eliminated because everyone agrees with and accepts the change in system. We all bring our Bibles and hymnals to the meeting, and in changing the system we must first learn to speak the hymns. The Bible does not emphasize singing the hymns but speaking the hymns (Eph. 5:19). There is a reason for this. Hymn lyrics are the highest form of language—exceptional utterances of spiritual experiences. Ordinary speaking is not as refined as hymns. Therefore, we need to learn to speak the hymns. For one person to speak is easy, but for many to speak as one is not easy. Therefore, we need. to practice; each one should. speak a little in a coordinated. way.

For example, the first stanza of Hymns, #593 says, "All I have in Adam is but sin and. death, / I in Christ inherit life and righteousness," These lyrics are a parallel construction. Sin is parallel to righteousness, and death is parallel to life. The former is what we had from birth, whereas the latter is what we have inherited. Then the hymn says, "When in flesh abiding, Adam I express, / But when in the spirit Christ is manifest," Express is parallel to manifest, and Adam is parallel to Christ. Stanza 5 says, "Minding just the spirit is God's saving way, / Minding just the spirit, Christ we will display; / Minding just the spirit, we can overcome, / Minding just the spirit, we the race may run," These lyrics distill the importance and effectiveness of minding the spirit. I wrote this hymn in 1961. I do not have the ability of a genius who can compose a poem in a few minutes; rather, I spent much effort and consideration to write lyrics with elegance and beauty.
