When we walk with the Lord
  In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
  While we do His good will,
  He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
DWhen
we walk with the Lord
In the

Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,

Not a shadow can rise,
  Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
  Not a doubt or a fear,
  Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise,
  Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
  Not a doubt or a fear,
  Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3
Not a burden we bear,
  Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
  Not a grief or a loss,
  Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear,
  Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
  Not a grief or a loss,
  Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4
But we never can prove
  The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
  For the favor He shows,
  And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
But we never can prove
  The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
  For the favor He shows,
  And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5
Then in fellowship sweet
  We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
  What He says we will do;
  Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet
  We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
  What He says we will do;
  Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Each time I sing this song, I always cry, it touches my soul, you know music is a form of dialogue where one wishes for express his mind, his feelings, his smile, his worries, etc by putting words together in singing, I love this.

The words of verse 4, (But we never can “prove” the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay), came to mind when I was reflecting on Romans 12:2 (KJV) (... that you may “prove” what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God).

The word “prove” means, (to me), to experience the stability of, and dwell in the security of it.

(Ephesians 3:17-19) “ that Christ might dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breath, and length, and depth, and height and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the Fullness of God.

Salvation is for the weak the needy the dead... this song praises the brother of the prototypical son and claims salvation is for the alive! Who did the father rejoice over? The one who sinned and returned or the one who remained at his side (jealous over his brothers treatment and refused to join the party)? The point of salvation is that we DON'T trust him and that we DON'T obey him at all otherwise we would already! He doesn't magically make are lives better if we do so... Just look at the Apostles:

Paul was beheaded

Peter was crucified

Andrew was crucified

Philip arrested and cruelly put to death

James was stoned and then clubbed to death

ect ect

If anything being a Christian will make you suffer more... As for being happy in Jesus I provide a far more ligament way... instead of trying to make yourself perfect... Know that he loves you in spite of your flaws... that even through you might screw up again and again that his love is far stronger and far more menacing then anything you can possible imagine... And finally take comfort in the realization that in the end you don't have to make things right because he already did... take comfort in the knowledge that your not alone in this fight and that God will do what he wants with you in his own time... And honestly if God didn't want you the way you are now (a broken slob mess that distorts everything it touches) then why would you be you in this moment if that is NOT what HE wanted? (unless God isn't all powerful and is in fact incapable of doing that in which case you actually believe that have fun trying to sort this all out)
