Thy way, not mine, O Lord

1
Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
  However dark it be;
Lead me by Thine own hand,
  Choose out the Path for me.
2
Smooth let it be, or rough,
  It will be still the best;
Winding or straight it leads
  Right onward to Thy rest.
3
I dare not choose my lot;
  I would not if I might:
Choose Thou for me, my God,
  So shall I walk aright.
4
Take Thou my cup, and it
  With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to Thee may seem;
  Choose Thou my good and ill.
5
Choose Thou for me my friends,
  My sickness or my health.
Choose Thou my cares for me,
  My poverty or wealth.
6
Not mine, not mine the choice,
  In things both great and small;
Be Thou my guide, my strength,
  My wisdom and my all.

This hymn was always sung in my church, when I was young I never liked singing it because why would I want God to choose a life of pain for me but as I got older I realized through the spirit of God that his way be it hard or soft will always lead to him, his way is always best... I love this hymn Thank God for my spiritual teachings

This is BOTH a hymn and a prayer. When one sings once , he prays twice . Amen.

This hymn reminds me that it is only by the grace of the omnipotent one, that I am where I am today.. Lord I am your vessel, use me.

The hymn tells me I cannot do anything on my own so I have to commit my way to the Lord and continue to accept and appreciate Him alone

... a highly soulful hymn that resonates and ignites the spirit... it releases one from the tensions of darkness because the Lord has taken over... The battle is truly the Lords.. just cast burdens upon him and look up to him....

This hymn reminds me to entirely trust and allow the Holy Spirit to lead me on the path of God’s will. My Father in heaven means me well, I only need to trust Him always.
