When I was a kid in the Methodist church of Nigeria, I used to hear my mother sing this song in Yoruba, (ore ofe sha) and whenever I heard her sing it I do understand the value she placed on the song, herself coming from a Muslim background. I didn't fully understand the import of the song until many years after when I dedicated my live to Christ and looking back now, it is only the Grace of God that has brought me thus far, anytime I hear or sing this song, tears well up in my eyes as it does now. Grace really is a charming sound.

Just as Ruby wrote above, this hymn is popular in the Anglican Church of Nigeria where I learned to sing it from an early age. I searched the internet for it tonight to share it with a friend so that it may encourage her as it has encouraged and comforted me for many years. This is one of the most beloved hymns in Nigeria where I'm originally from. The chorus of the version we sing is "Saved by grace alone! This is all my plea. Jesus died for all mankind and Jesus died for me." I find this tune to be very soothing and calming, like He is standing right by me. Grace! Grace! Grace! That's what it's all about, for no one can earn this great salvation. Thank you for this site.
