Make me a man of light with my eyes set on Thee

Make me a man of light with my eyes set on Thee,
Thy rays of light divine—penetrate, enlighten me;
To see, to know the heavn’ly things,
To sense, to touch reality,
Thy Spirit, Lord, convey to me,
The depths of God my heart would see!

Remove the many veils that are now cov’ring me,
My heart I turn, O Lord—Spirit come and set me free!
The bondages and limits break,
That deeper mingling Thou would’st make;
Oh, may Thy life grow more today
Until Thy life fills all my ways.
Remove the many veils that are now cov’ring me,
My heart I turn, O Lord—Spirit come and set me free!
The bondages and limits break,
That deeper mingling Thou would’st make;
Oh, may Thy life grow more today
Until Thy life fills all my ways.

When to Thy word I come, help me to contact Thee,
Be present, dear and fresh—let Thy speaking water me;
Oh, may my spirit, Spirit strike,
Thy Holy Word, a flame, ignite!
Thy present word to me make clear;
Thy secret things, Lord, I would hear.
When to Thy word I come, help me to contact Thee,
Be present, dear and fresh—let Thy speaking water me;
Oh, may my spirit, Spirit strike,
Thy Holy Word, a flame, ignite!
Thy present word to me make clear;
Thy secret things, Lord, I would hear.

All my prayer now is for the Lord to shine on me till I am no no longer a fleshly Christian but a spiritual one.

Spiritual Man, The chs. 11

A believer should allow the Holy Spirit to search his heart so that he may be enlightened by God to know what things are forbidden by the law of the Holy Spirit and the law of nature, what things are obstructing him from the exercise of temperance and self-control, and what things are restricting him from serving God freely in the spirit. Unless these sins are removed, there is no possibility for him to enter into spiritual life.
