To Thee, great One in Three, Eternal praises be Hence evermore. Thy sov’reign majesty May we in glory see, And to eternity Love and adore.
As I was praying this morning my mind sought this old favorite. I was thinking too of our Vacation Bible School theme “ Who do you say I am” the question Jesus asked his disciples in Matthew16. I knew this hymn spoke of Jesus and His authority and purpose. So glad I can sit and sing it again and again. Just remember who He is… let us reflect His image as we move through this world as Christians.
The presence of the trinity in our congregation provides much comfort and assurance in times of distress. This ancient prayer hymn is invaluable today, for the days, indeed, are evil.
The throne is not only for God to reign over us but also for God to accomplish His eternal purpose. If we have a throne in our spiritual life, God will not only rule over us but will also fulfill His purpose in us, with us, and through us. Those who do not have the throne in their Christian life will not allow God to obtain His purpose with them. I hope that the Holy Spirit will deeply impress you with this matter. If you want God’s purpose and plan to be carried out in you and with you, you must be a person who submits to the throne. You must be a person under the reign of God. Only then can God carry out His purpose in relation to you.
Found while learning hymn 5 after today's table in Invercargill.
It resonates with my Bible reading in John 14 today; Oh how our Lord Jesus loves the Father! And How our heart bursts when that love is realised in us through the sent comforter!
I often sing this praise hymn to our great Triune God. It lifts my Spirit! I sang it early this morning in my quite time and the atmosphere was filled with Holy praise!!
