Day by day, and with each passing moment

Comfort in Trials By Trusting the Lord

English713
1
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
2
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
3
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

I’ve sung this song for years. It’s always a blessing to my heart and to those who request it.

One of my sons and my husband of 64 years are with the Lord, and I have had breast cancer twice along with heart failure

🎶but everyday the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special blessing for each hour🎶
His presence is so real! 🙏

I would label this a keynote life song of my father. His melodious baritone voice would fill the house with this hymn; a reflection of his soul. It popped into my head this morning and was delighted to find the lyrics on this site. I am grateful for my father, and my Father God, for instilling my mind with loving Truth.

My heart is heavy and I'm really trying to trust God. I don't even know what it means to trust again. This is my little prayer

Heard this song from Alistair Begg this morning. Brought my heart peace and reminded me that I have a good and gracious Heavenly Father. I learned this song exactly 40 years ago as a young 19 year old young man, when my mom had just died. A dear pastor taught me this song at the funeral of my mom (I was just a few months old believer at that time), and I have never forgotten it since and have sang it to myself and others through the years.

This song just came to as I was thinking of this trial I am going through.

Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,

Till with Christ the Lord I stand. My ABBA Father continues to hold me with His righteous right hand. He will not let me fall. He is Faithful.
