Who is on the Lord's side

Who is on the Lord's side?
  Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers,
  Other lives to bring?
Who will leave the world's side?
  Who will face the foe?
Who is on the Lord's side?
  Who for Him will go?
  By Thy grand redemption,
  By Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord's side;
    Savior, we are Thine.
Not for weight of glory,
  Not for crown and palm,
Enter we the army,
  Raise the warrior psalm;
But for love that claimeth
  Lives for whom He died;
He whom Jesus nameth
  Must be on His side.
Jesus, Thou hast bought us,
  Not with gold or gem,
But with Thine own life-blood,
  For Thy diadem;
With Thy blessing filling
  Each who comes to Thee,
Thou hast made us willing,
  Thou hast made us free.
Fierce may be the conflict,
  Strong may be the foe,
But the King's own army
  None can overthrow.
Round His standard ranging
  Victory is secure,
For His truth unchanging
  Makes the triumph sure.
Chosen to be soldiers
  In an alien land:
Chosen, called, and faithful,
  For our Captain's band;
In the service royal
  Let us not grow cold;
Let us be right loyal,
  Noble, true, and bold.

What a marvelous hymn of encouragement at this particular time in American history! I have known this hymn since I was a child, and now in my old age it really comes to the front of my mind in the midst of this contested election and this hinge moment of faith! An Appeal to Heaven!

What an inspired hymn we have here! At such a time when our individual decisions are to be eternally sealed, either for eternal doom or eternal life, it is important to sing hymns like this to receive the firm assurance that victory is secured only in Christ's army.

This is nothing but present truth--a Holy Spirit inspired hymn.

Thank you, Hymnal.net. God bless you.

Thank you Holy Spirit, for bringing this song into my heart at the close of day. Learnt at St. Andrews Church choir 15 - 18 years ago. I too just love these hymns because they were well thought out and are like poetry to one adored, as our God is

One of the songs that helps you know if you're still on track with the Christian faith or becoming "modernized" . Lyrics so strong they sound like military pep talk, allegiance and the Voice of God in One.

An ancient song! How it kept us going, unwavering, untiring, for the LORD, with strength from the inner man, in the days we first believed. My heart longed for it this morning as I meditated on my message for the service.

This types of songs should come back on our altars in this age that the younger generation might come back on the firing line for the.

We are losing great revival as we neglected our Lord's instruction in Matthew 13:52. The age songs should not close the books of the Old Testament.

I remember this hymn from Sunday School as a child. When I was reading Exodus 32, I noticed Moses’ words, “Whoever is on the Lord side come to me! ” The Levites came, and God gave them a gruesome task. Apparently the work given to those who claim the Lord’s side is not always triumphant!
