Men Who wrote songs we're singing up to today had a relationship with God that many writing songs today can't relate with. The messages in the songs are for eternity. Zec. 13:1 In that day there will be an opened fountain for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.

This opened fountain is Christ's pierced side (John 19:34, 37). Two substances came out of Lord's pierced side: blood and water... The blood formed a fountain for the washing away of sin and the water became the fountain of life.

Thank the Lord for the fountain filled with blood, where we can plunged beneath and lose all our guilty stains!

@Tama Bouncer... I found the original lyrics and it contains more verses and the 5th verse is written that way. Sounds like you got a wonderful old hymnal.
