Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart

1
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
2
Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father and I, Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
3
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise;
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart;
O King of glory, my treasure Thou art.
4
O King of glory, my victory won;
Rule and reign in me ’til Thy will be done;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall;
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

I can never hear this song without copious tears pouring down my face! The original version was written in around 800 AD. It could never be more true to our lives today. When I die , and someone says : "Who was he?", I want it said this song was me!

This hymn is the source of my comfort in my daily life. Jehovah God graciously bless the composer and the one who played the keyboard in Jesus name. Amen.

I was amazed this was under new songs. Actually this is one the oldest Christian Hymns we have, originally in Gaelic from at the 8th century. I love the other verses, especially Be Thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight. God Himself is on outside, our most effective protection and weapon in this spiritual fight.

Lord, nothing else but the great person Who You are is my controlling vision. I live to You.

Love the song, but I'm used to singing "High King of Heaven" rather than "O King of Glory"

Such an amazing hymn, but I have to say that your version just doesn't sound quite right.

This song has come when I am discouraged or on top of a mountian. The words have great meaning and encouragement.
