I serve a risen Savior

We sang this wonderful hymn in church today, and over lunch we couldn't get it out of our heads , but couldn't quite get the tune right, so we looked it up on line. My dad says he has been serving the risen Saviour for the last eighty years, and for the last 72 years as a lay preacher in the Methodist church. Hallelujah!

As I am preparing my sermon for this weekend, this old hymn rose up in my spirit and wouldn't go away. I went on-line to read through the lyrics and found my heart warmed reading through all of your similar comments. Indeed we serve a LIVING SAVIOUR! Be blessed today!

I looked up this song because I've gotten in the habit of turning off the radio when driving to work and simply having prayer and worship time. I sing old hymns and pray. I wanted to learn all the words to this song so I could sing it too. Very soothing to sing these when facing challenges of the workday! I used to just go for the contemporary Christian songs, but there's something about the old hymns that warms my soul deep inside me.

I was a such wretch, and laughed at God, where are You? Actually after some years, I turned to Christ, I still didn't like this kind of old hymns. I thought that these are old-fashioned. And my life wasn't in order. Because what I lived was very modern. I thought I am a Christian, but Christ didn't live in my heart. And God changed me later, I found myself the greatest liar! I called Christ, Lord, but the real Lord was sin for me. Sorry Lord, today You made me born again, and I can see You live within my heart! Thank YOU my Lord!

I found this while adding a Facebook post to someone's wall who was gloating over God Is Dead Day. Well, it's Sunday, Resurrection Day in Australia, and I included this in my reply. :)

I grew up in the Methodist Church with my father being a pastor. I love this song, and it fills my heart and soul every time I sing it. Bless you this wonderful time of year and everyday, may God's blessings abound you all.

I love this old hymn! I was just singing it in my spirit today (though a little faster) and was glad to find it on the web to share on Facebook with my friends...

While driving from work praying, thanking God for His many blessing and seeking His face for the new year, this song came up in my spirit and I sang it all the way home. It is conforting to know that God speaks even through a song. Peaceful and Blessed New Year to all, in Jesus Name.

When I was under 7 years old I lived with my grandparents in Tucson, Arizona. I remember sitting in the back seat coming back home from church listening to them sing their favorite hymn...singing in harmony the last line of the chorus "He lives within my heart". A beautiful memory, a beautiful answer to the question of how we know Christ lives. The Word became flesh, and the Word becomes flesh through us living out each day when He lives in us.

He lives within my heart.
