One thing I of the Lord desire

1
One thing I of the Lord desire,
For all my path hath miry been:
Be it by water or by fire,
Oh, make me clean, oh, make me clean!
  So wash me, Thou, without, within,
Or purge with fire, if that must be;
No matter how, if only sin
  Die out in me, die out in me.
2
I watch to shun the miry way,
And staunch the springs of guilty thought;
But, watch and struggle as I may,
Pure I am not, pure I am not.
3
If clearer vision Thou impart,
Grateful and glad my soul shall be,
But yet to have a purer heart
Is more to me, is more to me.
4
Yea, only as this heart is clean
May larger vision yet be mine,
For mirrored in the depths are seen
The things divine, the things divine.

Father God, please let every form of sin die out in me, wash me thou without within. I just want to live for you God, I can only do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 🙏🙏🙏

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, we sang it alot especially in the Lord's supper or communion it has been a very soul searching song , and I thank God for the writer, the inspiration and the abedience in listening to the voice of God, and do exactly what he says, God bless.

I love this song. It is one of my very favorites because it is my heart's desire that God would die out sin in my life so that I could live for Him and Jesus takes first place.

This song came to my mind this morning as I was praying and asking the Lord to cleanse my body from sin and diseases.

Lord wash me thou without within, O jet purge with fire if that must be, I don't care how, if only sin and sickness die out in me! Die out in me!

Then and only then, will I have a clearer vision for your service. Amen

Today I read Eph 1. 11 from the NLTRANSLATION and washed by the Spirit to read the entire chapter.

What a blessing that is to me, then I felt the need for cleansing, which only Christ can give and I tried to remember the the words of this song I sang in my teenage years. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the first two lines and I found it on the internet. What a blessing!!. My heart is so thankful right now for what God has done for me through Christ. Let's hold fast to that victory in Christ so that we can be with Him forever.

This hymn is the most beautiful ever and its lyrics, so meaningful, always make me cry. Just one thing: the verse you have as the second is really the last the way I learned it. So matter how hard I try, pure I am not.

This song came to me immediately after I was through praying this morning, I carefully went through the words and want this to be the true desire of my heart especially as I serve in God's cause.
