Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy,
Thou art worthy, O Lord.
Thou art worthy to receive glory,
Glory and honor and power.
For Thou hast created, hast all things created,
For Thou hast created all things.
And for Thy pleasure they are created;
Thou art worthy, O Lord.
Thou art worthy, O Lord.
Thou art worthy to receive glory,
Glory and honor and power.
For Thou hast created, hast all things created,
For Thou hast created all things.
And for Thy pleasure they are created;
Thou art worthy, O Lord.

I don't understand the word power in the forth line. God can't receive power from us. He can only receive praise. Power doesn't rhyme with anything either. There's no artistic reason to introduce theological error into the song!
What a great song though.

Revelation 4:11 KJV
[11] Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

This is a go to in my devotion, but I had to change the word power to praise. Never sat right in my spirit that "Thou art worthy to receive glory, honor and power." God is all powerful and can't receive power from me. But I can and do offer Him my glory, honor and praise!
Thank you for this beautiful song!

Short Name: Pauline Michael Mills
Full Name: Mills, Pauline Michael 1898-1991
Birth Year: 1898
Death Year: 1991
In her teens, Pauline was a pianist for Stockton, California, area churches. In 1975, she was ordained by L. I. F. E. Bible College in Los Angeles.
On an evangelism tour, her son told a congregation to offer their favorite scripture and--without telling her in advance--said his mother would write music for it before the service was over. "Thou Art Worthy" was the result.

There are both old and new songs with "greater depth" if you mean theological content, but this song is a wonderful response of worship to our Creator God. We need both kinds of songs for complete worship.
