O how sweet the glorious message,
  Simple faith may claim;
Yesterday, today, forever,
  Jesus is the same.
Still He loves to save the sinful,
  Heal the sick and lame;
Cheer the mourner, still the tempest;
  Glory to His name!

He who was the friend of sinners,
  Seeks thee, lost one, now;
Sinner, come, and at His footstool,
  Penitently bow.
He who said, “I’ll not condemn thee,
  Go and sin no more,”
Speaks to thee that word of pardon,
  As in days of yore.
He who was the friend of sinners,
  Seeks thee, lost one, now;
Sinner, come, and at His footstool,
  Penitently bow.
He who said, “I’ll not condemn thee,
  Go and sin no more,”
Speaks to thee that word of pardon,
  As in days of yore.

Oft on earth He healed the suff’rer,
  By His mighty hand;
Still our sicknesses and sorrows,
  Go at His command.
He who gave His healing virtue,
  To a woman’s touch;
To the faith that claims His fulness,
  Still will give as much.
Oft on earth He healed the suff’rer,
  By His mighty hand;
Still our sicknesses and sorrows,
  Go at His command.
He who gave His healing virtue,
  To a woman’s touch;
To the faith that claims His fulness,
  Still will give as much.

As of old He walked to Emmaus,
  With them to abide;
So through all life’s way He walketh,
  Ever near our side.
Soon again we shall behold Him,
  Hasten, Lord, the day!
But ’twill still be “this same Jesus,”
  As He went away.
As of old He walked to Emmaus,
  With them to abide;
So through all life’s way He walketh,
  Ever near our side.
Soon again we shall behold Him,
  Hasten, Lord, the day!
But ’twill still be “this same Jesus,”
  As He went away.

Powerful lyrics in the second and third verses. Thank for sharing. I turned to Google after turning and tossing, desperate to hear a word from God to share this evening in my church. Tge word of God as a title dropped in my spirit and I went from meditating on every scripture I know on the word of God to Jesus's words to the pharisees and saucers where he said you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Then, I sensed a sweetness in my spirit and started singing, words from Bkessed Assurance, Jesus is mine, particularly this phrase, "born of His Spiri, washed in His blood". Then the song"O how sweet the glorious message simple faith may claim" came into my heart, so I Google it and cam across your lyrics. Thank you sharing them with the world and God bless you.

One of my favorite hymns. Sang with young people and children and they loved it too.

Christ’s ministry on earth : to save the sinful, heal the sick and lame; cheer the mourner, still the tempest, friend of sinners, seek the lost ones……

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes, even forever

RcV bible footnote: For a true and steadfast church life, we must hold on to the Christ who is the same yesterday, and today and even forever and must not be carried away by various strange teachings. Various and strange teachings are always used by the enemy to cause dissension and even division in the church.

I love this hymn. So many things changed in my life. Not all of the changes have been welcome. Loved ones pass away, etc. Jesus is still the same yesterday, and forever!

Beautiful hymn that resonates with me!

I love this hymn. I love the last stanza. Just as He walked with the two men on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection, He is walking with me through all life's ways. How comforting.

I love the part which says 'simple faith may claim'. It blesses my heart that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
