Fight the good fight with all thy might

1
Fight the good fight with all thy might!
Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right;
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Thy joy and crown eternally.
2
Run the straight race through God’s good grace,
Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face;
Life with its way before us lies,
Christ is the path, and Christ the prize.
3
Cast care aside, lean on thy Guide;
His boundless mercy will provide;
Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its life, and Christ its love.
4
Faint not nor fear, His arms are near,
He changeth not, and thou art dear;
Only believe, and thou shalt see
That Christ is all in all to thee.

Love this hymn , one of my top 5 favorite hymns, always renewed my hope and strength in God, love the older version better.

Awoke today with this hymn (which I haven’t sung for over 40 years ) strongly in my mind.

In the very difficult and distressing circumstances my dear wife and I are contending with it is so wonderful to receive these inspirational and, encouraging words from The Lord.

I also note that it contains several scriptural commands

which with God’s help I must obey.

He is with us and for us.

Hallelujah!

A fabulous hymn that makes our difficult and tough life more worthwhile because of its true meaning.

My father likes this hymn. I only hope that I am able to ensure this is played hopefully a long time far far away.

I was in our prayer meeting yesterday evening and the 2nd verse came to me, then the 3rd - I had to google it to remember the 1st verse.. Here I am trying to work out what God is saying and the last comment, made yesterday is very similar. We occasionally sing 'hymns' but I can't remember the last time I heard 'Fight the good fight'. I think the focus was on 'lift up thine eyes and seek His face'.

This morning some lines from this hymn came to me from the last two verses. I looked them up and found they from this hymn Fight the good fight. I went to church and found the last hymn that we sang was Fight the good fight, (not a hymn we usually sing) so I'm sure God must be saying something to me.

Jude

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses"

John Monsell was a gifted Anglican clergyman who could hold his congregation spellbound as he spoke and who advocated "more fervent and joyous" singing in his church. He once said, "We sing, but not as we should, to Him who is the chief among 10,000, the altogether lovely."

This hymn was written to accompany the reading of Ephesians 4:17-32, where Paul outlines the nature of new life in Christ. - Great Songs of Faith by Brown and Norton
