À propos de la notation chiffrée

La notation chiffrée (aussi appelée Jianpu, 简谱) note chaque son de la mélodie par un chiffre de 1 à 7 plutôt que par une note sur une portée. Le chiffre indique la position de la note dans la gamme du chant -- pas sa hauteur exacte -- de sorte que la même mélodie garde toujours la même apparence, quelle que soit la tonalité chantée.

Au sein d'une même octave, les chiffres 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 correspondent aux syllabes familières do ré mi fa sol la si. Un point au-dessus d'un chiffre le fait monter d'une octave ; un point en dessous le fait descendre d'une octave -- l'absence de point correspond à l'octave médiane, telle qu'écrite.

Un chiffre seul dure un temps. Un tiret (-) juste après un chiffre prolonge cette même note d'un temps supplémentaire. Un trait sous un chiffre le raccourcit au contraire -- un trait vaut un demi-temps, deux traits un quart de temps. Un 0 est un silence : une pause d'un temps.

L'indication en haut de la partition, par exemple "1=C" ou "1=Ab", précise la hauteur du degré 1 (le "do"). Un chant en mineur porte plutôt l'indication "6=X" -- le degré 6 (le "la") est alors la véritable tonique. Les noms d'accords indiqués au-dessus des notes (comme "C" ou "G7") restent toujours écrits avec leurs noms de lettres habituels, jamais sous forme de chiffres.

Par exemple, sous l'indication "1=C", les chiffres 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 correspondent aux notes C D E F G A B. Sous l'indication "1=G", ces mêmes chiffres correspondent plutôt à G A B C D E F# -- même forme, tonalité différente.

I’m 75 now and old hymns of the church mean so much to me. As I sang along to the lyrics, I could see my dad ( now in Heaven 25 yrs. ) leading the congregation in worship with this song. He has indeed led me all the way!

I went to visit a lady who has been given 6 months to live, I prayed with her and this is the hymn that I have been singing today. I believe it and He does all things well , she is 85 years young and has loved God every step since I've known her. To God be all the Glory.

Yes Lord, you doeth all things well.

Dealing with grief of lossing my Dad (God rest his soul). Having a hard time at work. Financially struggling. Battling infertility. Having difficulty making important family decisions.

BUT

All through these and more, YOU " give me grace for every trial". Indeed you are faithful. Indeed you have led me all the way.

I am so thankful that, being born in 1948, I was raised on these tried and true, old hymns. Even though the precious hymns were, in essence, thrown out of church buildings years ago, they remain in the hearts and minds of us who were blessed by the singing of them every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night.

We still do not know the outcome of our votes on this 15th day of November,

but, like faithful friends, these songs return to me as I read the Bible and pray. This one lifted me up this morning. We are seeing our beloved "Land of the Free" go through what I never, ever thought would happen before the Rapture.

"But I know, what'ere befall me, Jesus doeth ALL things well."!!!! His grace is sufficient for us as we trust in Him!

It is Election Day here in the USA. While praying this morning, our Lord brought these lyrics to mind, “For I know whate’r befall me Jesus doeth all this well. ” Praise God, yes He does! Singing through the complete lyrics I found here has brought such peace and joy to my heart. And reading the comments from my brothers and sisters in Christ from around the world sets me longing for that great worship time when we all get to heaven! Thank you all for encouraging my spirit this morning!
