The law of the Lord is perfect

1
The law of the Lord is perfect,
Converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
Making wise the simple.
  More to be desired are they than gold.
Yea, than much fine gold:
Sweeter also than honey
And the honeycomb.
2
The statutes of the Lord are right,
Rejoicing the heart:
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
Enlightening the eyes.
3
The fear of the Lord is clean,
Enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true
And righteous altogether.
4
Let the words of my mouth
And the meditation of my heart,
Be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord,
My strength, and my redeemer.
  Moreover by them is Thy servant warned:
Is Thy servant warned:
And in keeping of them there is
Great reward.

In Psalm 19 David highly esteemed the law. Today we need to highly esteem Christ who is the reality of the law as the testimony of God.

I am German and I learned this song when I was 19. Now I am 63, and I am still blessed when I am singing it!

This song brings delight to my heart. It brings me back to the days when I had my children in school at Bible Baptist Church, and I volunteered there. There was so much singing and joy! I still have singing and joy, and many grandchildren. Thank you so much!

We sang this song at the Baptist Student Union in college in the early 70’s! It runs through my mind every time I read Psalm 18. I surely would love to know who composed the music and when.

This is, word for word, from Psalms 19, verses 7-11, with verse 10 being the chorus (King James Version). One of my favorites. You do not want to add to it, or take away from it -- pure scripture.

The chorus (here) has an duplicated phrase ("Is thy servant warned", which is not duplicated in scripture). Also, the first stanza listed in #4 is verse 14, which does not match the meter of the rest of the song, is out of place, and so is usually not included.
