What a Friend we have in Jesus

1
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
  O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
  Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
  Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
  Thou wilt find a solace there.

Praise God this morning for His wonderful creation to mankind. This morning I woke up in my devotion this hymn came to me. What a friend we have in Jesus.

God has been working in my life for many years. Through His promise I know I can live for today.

I have Faith that He will meet my daily needs as He promised to us on earth.

Whenever I feel low & feel like I have let the Lord down I sing this beautiful song of praise & know the Lord is with me always & forgives my son's. He knows my weaknesses & still He loves me.

I believe that it is the Lord Jesus who leads me to start singing this hymn this morning. The lyrics are, indeed, wonderful! They have touched my inner being, my precious soul. God is just a prayer away. The importance of prayer can never be ignored or neglected or undermined! I must be girded with prayers always. Thank and praise God for this wonderful hymn!

Just heard this on the radio. The author lost his fiancée weeks before the marriage, mourned 12 years, came out and fell in love again to have his second fiancée die days before the wedding. He sent this poem to his mother who was passing, as he was unable to afford a trip home to see her again. He learned in all his sorrow that God wanted to be there and comfort him. What a friend we have in Jesus!!!
