O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood.
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood.

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

This hymn bounced on my heart after my quiet time, and it blessed me so much, reminding of the sweetness and pleasure in trusting God. So, I choose to trust God above all.

The lyrics of this song has brought me hope even at this moment when I thought I've lost everything. It's so sweet to trust in Jesus and depend on His promises. I will come out of this situation strong with testimonies even as I continue to trust in Jesus.

God has been incredibly awesome, I was just reminiscing on though time and how God came through and how I trusted him and he didn’t fail which made my faith stronger. ‘Tis actually sweet to trust in him despite whatever situation you find yourself, he is God and God alone.

The story behind “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus“ is one example of how a hymn is bourne out of tragedy but brings blessings to the Body of Christ. The author Louisa Stead suffered tragedy and hardship, but these struggles came to bless many for years to come. Two experiences in particular in her life demonstrated to Louisa, the importance of trusting in Jesus.

Louisa Stead was born in Dover, England in 1850. She married in 1875 and moved to the United States where the couple had a daughter, Lily. When Lily was four years old, the family went out to enjoy a picnic lunch one day at the beach on Long Island, New York. As they were sitting on the ground, they suddenly heard cries for help and spotted a boy struggling in the ocean. Mr. Stead charged into the water after the boy but was pulled under by the panicked youngster, and both of them drowned before the terrified eyes of Louisa and her daughter. Out of her pain and hardship, she tried to come up with a way to grip with her tragedy, Louisa held on to trusting in God. No longer with a husband or income, Louisa and her daughter were reduced to abject poverty in such that it was not uncommon for them to have no food left in the house. On one occasion, Louisa’s prayer to the Lord for provision was answered inexplicably the next morning when she found a basket of groceries and money at her doorstep. It was during these life struggles that Louisa wrote the hymn, “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus. ” Sometime later, Louisa and Lily left for South Africa, where she labored as a missionary for fifteen years. Louisa passed away after a long illness in 1917. Following her death, Christians in Rhodesia noted that, “We miss her very much, but her influence goes on as our 5, 000 converts continually sing this hymn in their native language. ”

Sang this hymn in the Sunday Service and it has awakened my spirit at a time when I felt like Jonah in the belly of the fish and questioned if GOD can hear or see me and all that I'm going through... I pray for grace to trust HIM in all of these and to hold unto the promise... Thus saith the LORD'
