Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.
  Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,
Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
  O for grace to trust Him more.
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood.
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

We have just sung this hymn during our men's foot washing prior to the Conmunion Service and how true are the words. May we learn to trust Him more as the skies darken prior to His Second Coming!

David DaTar, When the hymn says 'How I proved him o'er and o'er' it means over and over again I have experienced the Faithfulness of God's word when I trusted my life to it.

The verse means yes, I have found over and over again that each time I trusted Jesus (rather than trust self, people or allowed fear to take control etc ) I have ALWAYS found rest, joy, solution to my problems. So I have proved by reason of experience many times over that its sweet to trust Jesus!

Yes it means over and over, or more and more, however you like to say it I'm sure :)

Hi David DeTar,

I think that line means... How I have proved Him over and over.

Please someone should correct me if I am wrong, I need to know too.

I have never understood the line How I've proved Him o'er and o'er. (Whenever I sing this song I sing How I need Him more and more.) So if anyone knows please tell me

Trusting Jesus means to me totality and submission to His will. The song heals anytime I listen to it, the melody and the words.

This hymn is our family anthem. Trusting God makes life easier. Good gospel hymn.
