About Numbered Notation

Numbered Notation (also called Jianpu, 简谱) writes each melody note as a number from 1 to 7 instead of a note on a staff. The number shows the note's position in the song's scale -- not its exact pitch -- so the same tune looks identical no matter what key it's sung in.

Within one octave, the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 correspond to the familiar do re mi fa sol la ti. A dot above a number raises it an octave higher; a dot below lowers it an octave lower -- no dot means the middle, as-written octave.

A plain number lasts one beat. A dash (-) right after a number holds that same note for one more beat. A line underneath a number shortens it instead -- one line is half a beat, two lines a quarter of a beat. A 0 is a rest: silence for one beat.

The label at the top of the sheet, like "1=C" or "1=Ab", shows which pitch scale degree 1 ("do") is tuned to. A song in a minor key is labeled "6=X" instead -- scale degree 6 ("la") is the true tonic. Chord names printed above the notes (like "C" or "G7") always use their familiar letter names, never numbers.

For example, under a "1=C" heading, the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 sound as C D E F G A B. Under a "1=G" heading, those very same numbers sound as G A B C D E F# instead -- same shape, different key.

God, our Father, we adore Thee

Blessing of the Trinity His Fatherhood

English5
1
God, our Father, we adore Thee!
We, Thy children, bless Thy Name!
Chosen in the Christ before Thee,
We are “holy without blame.”
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Abba’s praises we proclaim!
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Abba’s praises we proclaim!
2
Son Eternal, we adore Thee!
Lamb upon the throne on high!
Lamb of God, we bow before Thee,
Thou hast brought Thy people nigh!
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Son of God, Who came to die!
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Son of God, Who came to die!
3
Father, Son and Holy Spirit—
Three in One! we give Thee praise!
For the riches we inherit,
Heart and voice to Thee we raise!
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Thee we bless, through endless days!
We adore Thee! we adore Thee!
Thee we bless, through endless days!

George West Frazer was born In 1840 in Leitrim, Ireland. In the 18C, a bunch of Frazers of Inverness migrated from the highlands of Scotland to settle in Ireland. Among these was William Potter who became an inspector in the Royal Irish Constabulary- father to ten children. George, the tenth son, became intimately connected with Charles Henry Macintosh who withdrew from the Church of England.

During the Irish revival of 1859-1860, George and his brother came to hear a preacher named Dr. Graham Guinness. Unable to get into his building, they climbed up a window and heard the message of salvation. He was 20 years of age.

“Come hear the gospel sound, yet there is room” George’s conversion was evident by his godly walk, conversation, and truths he enjoyed and wrote down.

George’s leaving the church was a shock to his family but later his dad expressed his wanting to be buried with “George’s people. ”

At 30, he married Louise Knox but feared his affection for her might be first than for God. He wrote “Have I an object Lord below that would divide my heart from Thee. ” On the contrary, it was enhanced by that so intimately greater.

Mr Frazer submitted several hymns to Mr. Darby to include in the 1881 edition “Little Flock Hymnal” which Darby gladly accepted because they were scripturally sound and rhymed well.

The couple never had children. Frazer died January 24th 1896 and was buried in Chilltenham Cemetery. Louise died on May 14th 1914.

I like the words of this hymn of worship to the Lord Jesus Christ. I feel that a person can only worship God in spirit and in truth when that person is born again into the family of God as a child of His (John 1 verse 12, Romans 8 verse 14 to 17). And a person is born again when they repent of their sins (Mark 1 verse 15) and believe that the Lord Jesus Took their sins away on the cross and rose again on the third day.

The Lord Jesus Christ is God, born of the Virgin Mary ( Matthew 1 verses 18 to 25).

Agree that it's lacking the specific praise to the Spirit, something like this:

Holy Spirit, we adore Thee!
Searching e'en the depths of God!
Open wide our hearts art to Thee,
Come Thou, fill and transform us!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee!
Thou our newness to impart,
Unto full-grown man will bring us
Glorious bride to Thee become.

"Holy Spirit, we adore thee! Paraclete and heavenly guest

Sent from God and from the Savior, Thou hast led us into rest

We adore Thee, we adore Thee, by thy grace forever blest

I first heard this song in my local language ' Luganda" but after then I heard it in English. That's when I loved it so much. But as the days went by I included it on my best songs which satisfies my soul. Dear Christians please help me. I need to learn how to play this song on piano.

3 Father, Son and Holy Spirit—
Three in One! we give Thee praise!
For the riches we inherit,
Heart and voice to Thee we raise!

This is a great hymn and one that is new to me. I love it because in it we worship not only one but all three members of the Trinity. Praise be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever! Amen. Blessings!
