This song has a very special meaning to me. It is one I really enjoy playing and singing. Mercy and grace was given to me in 1952 at Calvary Baptist Church in Nashville. A day I will never forget. I had struggled with the holy spirit for weeks under conviction even during a revival with my family during a 2-week revival service prior to this time. It was a cold and snowy Sunday morning I will never forget when I asked Jesus into my heart. So I love when they sing about at Calvary because that's where it happened.

It reminds me of how Christ brought me out of the dungeon of sin into His marvelous grace and light

Thinking back this morning as I woke up of that “moment in time” that Jesus saved me from my sins. I was dying in sun and Jesus gave me life. I am so thankful for that day over 43 years ago that my burdened soul found freedom at Calvary! 🙏 it’s as vivid in my mind today as it was the day I first saw the Light and came to know that and understand that Jesus died for me!! I never knew it was for me. This is actually one of the first hymns I heard in the my church after I was saved. I would weep whenever we sang it and am always stirred by it. All three stanzas tell the story of my life. Everytime I hear or sing it I give thanks to God for spanning that mighty gulf for me! 🙏 that’s why I love him so. And now I’m safe within the arms of God! Thanking God today for Jesus and for the love that drew salvation’s plan! Lord Jesus, I love you! You are our great Saviour! Oh saints of God, let us remember what a great salvation we have!! 🙌🏼

We sang this song today in RCCG Divine Touch Parish, Yoruba Road, GRA Ilorin. It reassuringly melodious. May we not miss heaven having known what He did for us at Calvary. God bless you.

This hymn came to me this morning while I was performing my work. Isn’t our Lord so sweet and precious?

I thank Him for me reminding me of His sacrifice and how I was once oblivious to His concern for me. Praise Him for His eternal salvation. Thank you Lord Jesus. I take you as my King today! Hallelujah!!!

I am watching Donnie Swaggart at this moment talk about this song.. the writer of the song's father pleaded time after time with the Moody Bible institute to accept his wayward son.. each time he was denied because he was not a born again believer.. after several requests to the Moody Bible institute he was finally admitted.. and the Lord changed his life and he penned these lyrics and the music teacher there wrote the music..

This song is an inspirational song, Whenever I play this song it reminds me a lot I look at the back and commit my sins to the Lord almighty. Hallellujah Glory be to God Amen.
