Will your anchor hold in the storms of life

1
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?
  We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
  Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.
2
It is safely moored, ’twill the storm withstand,
For ’tis well secured by the Savior’s hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine.
3
It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow.
4
It will surely hold in the floods of death,
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.

This is not the first time Ivve awoken to this beautiful hymn resonating in my spirit. It’s apparent that the Holy Spirit gently but encouragingly reminds us Who the Anchor of our lives is. It also blesses me to know that these anointed hymns of old are not forgotten but wonderfully archived somewhere in glory. They resurface at intermittent times as we voyage through the turbulent sea of life. They prompt us to keep pressing on because once we’ve made it to that blissful shore and behold The Saviour’s face, we’ll look in retrospect and gladly say ‘the journey was worth it’. Amen.

This year has been a challenge with both my parents being unwell. As I sat in church this morning feeling somewhat overwhelmed the Spirit of God took me back to this old hymn that I sang as a child and still sing today. He reminded me of the Anchor that keeps my soul/your soul. That we are fastened to a Supernatural Rock which shall never be moved. I was reminded that no how bad the storm, no matter how high the waves; We will forever be grounded firm and deep in the Love of Christ Jesus.

Although I felt challenged I forever encourage myself that no matter how the days, weeks and months have thrown some very hard curve balls you way I am and will forever be victorious........ Amen and Amen.

I was in the place of prayer when this song flew into my heart. I received the assurance of God's love and care. My heart received strength. Thanks for making such hymns available at our finger tips on net.

Being heart broken over the senseless killings of innocent people within a week in the United States I was looking for some hope and peace, then this song came to my heart through the Holy Spirit and it certainly confirm that even when the devil tries to distract me, 'my anchor firm remain'.

Sorry about the loss of your son, I can only imagine your pain. Remember that God is a God of comfort, peace and rest. May you find that comfort in Him in your sorrow and may His grace be with you so that you can experience a deeper and closer walk with Him.

Stay strong and be encouraged. May God bless you and keep you and grant you His Peace.

My first born 18 yr old son died in a traffic accident last week. He was running with a rough crowd, doing crazy things young people do, and he paid the ultimate price. In search of solace I opened my hymn book and it fell open on this hymn. Even though we were not practicing we believe in God and the message of Jesus Christ. Wherever he is, I sing this song for him, to remind him that his soul is anchored in love and is connected to the infinite source of love and forgiveness and he can follow that link to find his way home. Rest in peace Antoine, from your mom.
