Take my life, and let it be (with chorus)

Consecration Surrendering All to the Lord

English1359
1
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

For me, You were mocked and crucified;
For me, willingly You bled and died.
Lord, my life and love I willingly outpour
And will serve You evermore.
2
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

E. Taking Care of His Mother by Imparting His Life to His Disciple

Probably most Christians know that when the Lord was on the cross He spoke seven words. These seven words from the cross are quite famous. The first word the Lord spoke was, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing” ( Luke 23:34 ); the second was, “Today you shall be with Me in Paradise” ( Luke 23:43 ); and the third was “Woman, behold your son.... Behold, your mother” ( John 19:26-27 ). These three words were spoken during the first three hours of the Lord’s crucifixion. The Lord was on the cross for six hours—from 9 A. M. to 3 P. M. This is recorded very clearly in the four Gospels. During the first three hours, everything that was done to Him was done by man. The people persecuted, mocked, and crucified Him. But during the final three hours, everything that happened to Him was done by God. God looked upon Him as the sinner and as the substitute for sin, and judged Him. During the second period of three hours, He spoke four other words. In Matthew 27:46 the Lord Jesus said, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? ” This was the fourth word spoken from the cross. The fifth word was, “I thirst” ( 19:28 ); the sixth was, “It is finished” (19:30); and the seventh was, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit” (Luke 23:46).

Oh Lord! We want to be the bride who has made herself ready for you. Make our heart and our will your very own, that day by day and moment by moment we would be found choosing you and loving you. We long to be ever joined the You as one!

Almost 30 years ago my precious wife and I requested this hymn be sung at our wedding. Four children later (one in heaven age 18, heart condition) we still sing and love this hymn more than ever, by His constant grace.

Sola dei Gloria!
