What a Friend we have in Jesus

Prayer Telling the Lord

English789

1

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

2

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

3

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

This song was divinely inspired and continues to hold us up and minister to our souls through the years because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! Oh, what a friend...so faithful! He promised never to leave us nor to forsake us - oh what a friend!

No matter how contemporary we get, how modern in our ways, the lyrics of this hymn will never grow out of style.... Thank God for the friendship of Jesus and Thank God for prayer.

This was the song that Don Piper began singing with the Baptist preacher who was praying and singing this hymn over him, as he was rising from the dead as it were - as recorded in the book, "90 Minutes In Heaven", By Don Piper with Cec Murphey

Each time I take this hymn......I feel the movement of God walking towards solving my problems.
