To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
 
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice;

Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

At my finger tips I got this song, many people have made a pact with God to sacrifice all their ideals to humanity at no cost, I got this and my curiosity is eased, now the person who have done this is blessed the more because he has provided this that I wanted at a time like this, he is a messenger of God, thank you.

Great things He has done indeed. His grace has sustained me through the darkest time of my life. Praise Him for this site that allows me to sing these Hymns of my childhood though lyrics and melodies escape me. Praise Him that we have a place to come to hear the melody and read the lyrics. What a gift to have these treasures within reach for those like me who are musically crippled.

You alone Oh God is worthy to be praised. I was singing this song in my praise and worship moment and found out there is a word I couldn't remember in the song. I went online and I got the correct lyrics. Indeed to God be the Glory. Amen.

When English hymnwriter Frances Havergal asked someone about Fanny Crosby, she received the reply, "She is a blind lady whose heart can see splendidly in the sunshine of God's love." Crosby herself acknowledged, "Darkness may throw a shadow over my outer vision, but there is no cloud that can keep the sunlight of hope from a trustful soul."

Probably written in 1872, this song was taken to England by Ira Sankey, who led the singing for D. L. Moody's evangelistic campaigns. The hymn became immediately popular in England, but was published in only a few American hymnals until Billy Graham rediscovered the song during his 1952 British crusade.
