As I was reading my daily devotions from Jesus Calling, one line in the meditation said “How much better is it to walk close to Me, depending on My strength and trusting Me in every situation. ” I stopped right there and thought of this wonderful hymn. I found it under Close to thee, but love the first line…Thou my everlasting Portion. I have been studying that word for a few days, Portion, as it applies to our Christian life and our eternal home with the Lord. It never ceases to amaze me that GOD will reveal songs and scriptures for me as I try to understand a particular topic. We are truly Blessed to be here and, one day will be with Him forever . We used to sing this song in early 80s. While washing a car with bare hands the words, "Not for ease or worldly pleasure" strongly rang in my heart and so did the tune. Getting the music and lyrics online has revived my joy in the Lord.
