I love this hymn. Always have done, always will. In fact, I've left instructions that I want it to be sung at my funeral service. I want my funeral to be a joyful time, because by the grace of God, and the work of our dear Saviour at Calvary, I WILL be there, in His presence, totally amazed at how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean! This is an anointed song and speaks of His love for us, and the personal agony He endured during that terrible time. I don't think we need to change any words. They are what the composer felt inspired to write. Let's leave it alone.

I like this gospel hymn, but it seems to lack a verse concerning the mighty resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead.
