The love of God is greater far

1
The love of God is greater far
  Than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star
  And reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
  God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled
  And pardoned from his sin.
  O love of God, how rich and pure!
  How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
    The saints' and angels' song.
2
When hoary time shall pass away,
  And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
When men who here refuse to pray,
  On rocks and hills and mountains call;
God's love, so sure, shall still endure,
  All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam's race—
  The saints' and angels' song.
3
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
  And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
  And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
  Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
  Though stretched from sky to sky.

Such a beautiful, meaningful hymn. I have always loved it. I am so glad that I came across it, as I did not have all the words.

This compliment is our family's favorite praise, every time our extended family gathers, we sing together, last year July 2018 we sang together with our eldest brother and it was the last year we sang together. July 28, 2019 we sang this song again in the funeral service of our eldest brother, our separation in the love of God that cannot be described by human words. with God's love also we will meet in the new Jerusalem.

Ordinary words of man can not discribe the unfailing love of God neither can human brain fartom His divinity. This is really a life transforming song that can not be obsolete.

God's love is immeasurable.

God's love is boundless.

Romans 8:38-39 reads:

[38] For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

[39] nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I earnestly desire and pray to see The Lord daily.

I used to hear my favorite Christian singer, George Beverly Shea, voice this song at Billy Graham crusades, and to this day its words still echo within my soul. For years I led a Bible study at the chemical plant where I worked as an engineer, one of the attendees, Jim, told me that he too was blessed by this song in his life during his time in Viet Nam and how God used it to sustain him through some very ugly times there. When you read Romans 8:35-39 and lift your soul in prayer to the living God, His power in you and me will sustain us through whatever he appoints for us this side of heaven. Please remember, "Nothing ... will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. May God's love for you penetrate deeply into your life and it will have its effect on you. May He be blessed!!

Where can I buy a CD with this original song on it? I know Mercy Me has a rendition of this hymn but I want to buy the original one. Thank you for your response.

The words more than tongue can tell were etched on my mind and heart after hearing that George & Barbara Bush’s daughter, Robin, has used them to describe her live for them. I couldn’t remember why they seemed so familiar to me. I went looking for the words and found this wonderful hymn that I learned as a child. To be reminded of just how dearly God loves me, at this moment in time, brings great comfort to my broken heart. God is enough! His love endures forever. Praise His name!
