Dear Lord, we thank Thee for this bread,
It is a sign divine;
In it we see the mysteries
Of God's unique design.
It is a sign divine;
In it we see the mysteries
Of God's unique design.
2
This bread Thy body signifies,
Which Thou hast giv'n for us,
That we may share Thy life divine,
Partaking of Thee thus.
Which Thou hast giv'n for us,
That we may share Thy life divine,
Partaking of Thee thus.
3
For us Thy body Thou didst break
That Thou may thus impart
Thyself as life to us that we
May be Thy counterpart.
That Thou may thus impart
Thyself as life to us that we
May be Thy counterpart.
4
This bread thus also signifies
Thy body mystical,
Of which we living members are,
With Thee identical.
Thy body mystical,
Of which we living members are,
With Thee identical.
5
Though we are many grains of wheat,
Yet all one loaf, one bread;
Remembering Thee in such a way,
With Thee we all are fed.
Yet all one loaf, one bread;
Remembering Thee in such a way,
With Thee we all are fed.
6
As of this bread we all commune,
Thou, Lord, dost satisfy;
With all the saints we fellowship,
And Thee we testify.
Thou, Lord, dost satisfy;
With all the saints we fellowship,
And Thee we testify.

This hymn reminds me about a message given on the one bread, God’s body.
This was a little inspiration I had this morning regarding eating. Several brothers from Akron and Cleveland shared on this subject It helped me. What a picture!
I’ve always been impressed by God’s command to the Jews in John 6, to eat Him. It is how we receive LIFE. This had great meaning the Jews had no way to understand. Now we know eating is taking God in by faith to be our food supply, our very life!
Matthew 9:37 “Then saith He unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few”. Isn’t this the situation today!
A harvest implies gathering. But also implies food. Christ was the single grain. The saints produced by Him are the many grains.
Our spiritual experience of Christ is actually food for God and he will take us in as His enjoyment.
In the bible Wheat is used to represent the believers. It is meant for food but must go through a joint process to become bread for God corporately. The wheat must be gathered. It must be ground into fine flour. It must be baked. It is baked (trials) with oil and water symbolizing the spirit in life. The product will be the finished bread to satisfy God.
Christ is the LIVING bread with no leaven, that came down from heaven. In the end there will be an expression of the one loaf (church) to satisfy the father. 1 Cor 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers (eaters) of that one bread. John 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. Our Christian Life is a result of eating the Word. The oneness of the body, the one loaf, is the result of eating the bread. We now know the one loaf has the Godman life which we partake of.

Praise the Lord! The bread on the Lord’s Table signifies both the body of Christ broken for us to eat and the Lord’s mystical Body constituted with us, the many members of the Body regenerated through the resurrection of Christ (1 Pet. 1:3). Hallelujah! 😀

Oh Lord Jesus
CONCERNING BREAKING THE BREAD
IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE LORD
The content of the church is Christ, and the intrinsic reality of every single matter in the church is Christ Himself. If we do not touch Christ and gain Christ, even our worship and service will be meaningless. Just as the reality of believing in the Lord is Christ’s coming into us, and the reality of baptism is our union with Christ, so also all the services in the church should be related to Christ.
After a person is saved, he encounters several things. The first is baptism, and the second is the breaking of bread.
BREAD BREAKING
What is the meaning of bread breaking? And what is the reality of bread breaking? Once we mention the breaking of bread, almost all Christians will say that breaking bread is for remembering the Lord. It is true that in the Bible the Lord Himself said that we should break bread in remembrance of Him (Luke 22:19). Thus, based on this word, many Christians conclude that the significance of bread breaking is the remembrance of the Lord. Although this word, this definition, is not wrong, the meaning of remembering the Lord is not simple.
The remembrance spoken of by the Lord is different from our thought concerning remembrance. When we talk about remembrance, we have our own concept. What is this concept? For example, after a father dies, his children remember him. We all understand this kind of remembrance, but is this remembrance the same as our remembrance of the Lord? I am afraid that many people would say that our remembrance of the Lord is simply our meditating on the Lord. This kind of concept, however, is very different from the thought of the Bible.
