There was One who was willing to die in my stead,
That a soul so unworthy might live,
And the path to the cross He was willing to tread
All the sins of my life to forgive.

They were borne on the cross,

But He carried my sins with Him there.

this is such a beautiful hymn, why have they changed the words of this hymn?

it is not borne, but nailed, and buried my sins,

not carried. please do not change words in a hymn, just because we live in a different century. JESUS CHRIST our SAVIOUR REDEEMER; suffered, and HOW HE suffered for our sins. we should stop compromising, in case we hurt someone's feelings. Please, suffering is suffering. we should not forget, our LORD JESUS paid a very HIGH PRICE for us. thank you Hymnal net I am an 81year old been with this link many years and just loove you all GOD BLESS AND STAY SAFE

Why Borne? I think it is "They are nailed to the cross".
