In 2005, my wife required brain surgery to deal with some blood vessels that were ready to explode. After seven hours of surgery they Could only take care of 2/3 of the vessels. Two days later she had complications, and went into a coma. She remained in that state for about three weeks.
One night, after several days of prayer, My brother-in-law, with a deep resoluteness, said “We’re going to pray for her. ” So we went to her room In the intensive care unit of the hospital, and he said, “Pray for her. ” I began praying “Lord, if it’s your will, . . , ” “No! ,” he interrupted. “you pray with authority. “ Shocked, I prayed a commanding prayer of healing.
The next morning, I went in to see how she was doing. Surrounded by tubes dripping and machines humming, I leaned close to her ear and quietly sang “What can wash away my sin? “ In a quiet voice with her eyes still closed, she sang back “Nothing but the blood of Jesus. ” I was overwhelmed with gratitude and peace. She came out of the coma, and was transferred to a general floor the next day, Released from the hospital a few days later, she began a long road of recovery, and today continues to grow in the Lord.
It is no surprise to me that there’s so many pages of personal testimony related to the song. No other fount I know. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
