Oh! Jesus, Jesus

1
Oh, Jesus, Jesus, wonderful Jesus
Who art enthroned in heav’n above,
Crowned both with glory and with honor,
Attract us by Thy charming love.
  Oh! Jesus, Jesus, most desired,
Oh! Jesus, Jesus, dearest Lord,
Thy charming beauty us hath captured,
We love, we love Thee, precious Lord.
2
Thy glory is the splendor related
To Thy dear Person, Jesus Lord;
While honor is the preciousness
Related to Thine own great worth.
3
Thou art, dear Lord, the greatest attraction,
Within the universe to see,
And like unto an immense magnet,
Drawing Thy seekers unto Thee.
4
Without Thyself, the charming Object,
How could we from all things turn ’way?
How could we from so many distractions
Upon this earth, Lord, look away?

This has always been one of my favorites. I made a tape of my Long Beach song favorites after listening to the first 4 tapes many times. This was on it. I think I gave that tape of favorites away. I sometimes regretted it. Not sure if the recipient ever enjoyed it as much as I did. Later I got tapes 5 and 6 and found some more sweet songs. I'm glad they're here on this web site. I have since digitized my tapes. They were wearing out. :)

Hebrews 2:9 "We see Jesus, who was made a little inferior to the angels, because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God, He might taste death on behalf of everything" glory is the splendor related to Jesus' person; honor is the preciousness related to Jesus worth, value, and dignity, which is related to His position 2 Peter 1:17; 1 Peter 2:17; Roman 13:7.

"Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.

"The wonderful Jesus who is enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor, is the greatest attraction in the universe. He is like an immense magnet, drawing all His seekers to Him. It is by being attracted by His charming beauty that we look away from all things other than Him. Without such a charming object, how could we look away from so many distracting things on this earth?" Footnote in Recovery Version, p. 779
