I serve a risen Savior

I just started singing this beautiful song from my childhood. My father was a military man and a pastor and he had the most beautiful voice, and Irish tenor. This is one of the most beautiful songs he sang. I loved when my father would sing and he would have us get up and sing with him. Some of my favorite memories. Yes he lives. My Jesus lives. Can’t wait till the day I get to see Jesus, my mom and dad.

I woke today singing this hymn that I haven’t even heard in years. Looked it up here to read the beautiful truths within.

I was just going through the comments and reading some really wonderful statements and testimonies of Christ's power to transform lives. I came across the comments by Virginia Geoffrion of Huntsville, AL, United States of growing up in the Salvation Army and singing this beautiful hymn. My father, whom I mentioned in an earlier comment, was the one who instilled both a love of music in my life, as well as the love of certain hymns, especially this one. He also grew up in the Salvation Army, and because of his innate musical talent, including his beautiful voice, also sang in the streets with his local Salvation Army. That was in Welch, West Virginia and my grandfather, Joseph Straus Butler, ran the local mission for many years. He died the year before I was born, and I have always wished I had known him. He and my father were both born in Virginia. Thank you God, for beginning the chain of events that led to my belief in Him, my salvation, and my love of this hymn. And thank you Virginia Geoffrion for your comment that led to fond memories of my father and grandfather.

I grew up with so many beautiful hymns, and this is an absolute favorite of mine. My father had a beautiful voice, and he led the singing at our little church. I credit him with giving me such an appreciation for these hymns. I am now 75 years old and hymns such as this make me feel so close to God, and I feel His presence when I hear them. I can still hear my father singing these wonderful old hymns. One Sunday morning several years ago I woke up with this hymn in my mind. When I went to church that morning, it was one of the hymns we sang. Thank you to God, and to my earthly father for instilling the love of such music in my heart.

So glad to find the lyrics to this song. I sang this with my momma and grandpa at church as a child. It has come to my mind so many times through the years and touches my heart.

Yes, Yes, He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today. Yes, he walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way—his Grace and Mercy as well as Salvation to part. I want the world to know just how special apart Christ Jesus is in the joy that's down in my heart. I love the Lord, for He first loved me; I thank him for the many blessings that man cannot see. I thank him for giving his only begotten son, Christ Jesus, Christ Jesus, the One and Only one Amen.

Holy Spirit brought this song to mind while pondering all the chaos, destruction, and deceit going on in our world today. It can weigh heavy on my soul but... He lives.. whatever men may say... He lives within my heart! Thank you Lord Jesus 😊💞

Holy Spirit put this on my mind as I was waking up. We sang this in our church growing up. I have not thought of it since. I just turned 72. Remembered verse 1 and chorus. I was blessed to find this online.

My wife and I have been sick. This was a great encouragement. As I sang it I cold feel the presence and joy of Holy Spirit.
