To God be the glory, great things He hath done

1
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
  Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
  And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.
2
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

This song was on my heart this morning but for some reason I couldn’t remember one of the lines! I found hymnal. net instantly via Google so thank you and God bless you for your site! There are so many beautiful hymns I love that I’m sure there will be a time I need your help again. Praise the Lord!

This song just dropped in my spirit this morning. And I was meditating on the lyrics I see God's full plan for man embodied in the message.

To God alone, the immortal, invisible only wise God be all the glory, honour, dominion and power forever and ever. Amen

I've had this song in my head this week. My son just had heart surgery and is recovering well. We just introduced him to the surgeon and said, "this is the man that fixed your heart," but the surgeon stopped to give glory to God. Prayer is so important and works. To God be the glory!

Nice song

Third, we may classify the hymns by the sentiment expressed in the hymns. This is the deepest and most important matter in choosing a hymn. The sentiment of a hymn is the tender feeling of that hymn. The more tender a hymn is, the deeper is its sentiment. Two hymns may have the same subject and be under the same subdivision, but there may be a difference between them in sentiment. For example, Hymns, #39 and #52 are both hymns on the worship of the Father, but they have very different sentiments. Hymns, #39 is a good hymn that is full of excitement. Singing this hymn may make us want to shout. In contrast, Hymns, #52 is a very tender and fine hymn, perhaps the most tender and fine hymn in the section on the worship of the Father. If we study and pray over this hymn, we will sense how deep and tender its feeling is.
