我們若要彀資格作主的新婦，就必須長大，並且要經歷許多的事。成爲新婦比成爲召會更有講究。譬如，小女孩還不彀資格作新婦。她必須長大達到成熟，纔能成爲新婦。她還必須上學，還要學習許多事物。然後男子纔會選她作新婦。
不同的人在考慮選誰作妻子時，會有不同的標準。譬如，有博士學位的人可能要求他的新婦受過高等教育。他會認爲沒有碩士學位的人不彀資格作他的新婦。照樣，那靈對祂新婦的要求也是非常的高。那靈會娶一個沒有成熟的新婦麼？答案當然是否定的。必須等到主的新婦成熟了，完全爲主豫備好了，主纔會來迎娶她。…不要以爲只要我們是召會，就彀資格作新婦。這就好像說，只要是女人，不論年齡大小或成熟與否，都彀資格結婚。不，我們要成爲新婦，必須滿足一些要求。基督徒很容易說，我們都是召會。但是當主耶穌以新郎的身分來到時，我們彀資格作祂的新婦麼？那時主也許會對我們說，我們還不彀資格，我們還需要長大，還需要達到成熟。
你有把握你會被包括而成爲新婦的一部分麼？…我不相信一個只參加主日聚會的人能成爲主新婦的一部分。當主來迎接祂的新婦時，你能說你已經豫備好了麼？你彀資格、成熟了麼？…我們都必須長大並成熟，好叫我們在主來時彀資格被包括而成爲祂新婦的一部分。（哥林多後書生命讀經，二二五至二二七頁。）
新婦豫表召會在其最終的形態裏。…根據馬太二十五章，當主回來時，那些豫備好了的人，要和主一同坐席。這裏豫備好了，就是新婦自己豫備好了，也是神在人身上建造的工作完成，也就是我們在主的生命裏長大成熟。神在我們身上的建造、我們在主生命裏的長大、以及我們在主面前的豫備，這三件事乃是連在一起的。
