The overflow of life is work, The work should be our living! What we experience e’er should be The message we are giving. When living and the work are one, The work will be effectual; When message and the life are one, The word will be successful.

The work must be the fruit of life, Born thru the Spirit’s flowing; As branches of the Lord, the vine, Fruit bearing, life bestowing. ’Tis Christ Himself thru us to work, Himself as life expressing, And all the riches of His life To others manifesting.

’Tis not a movement borne of man, But by His power moving; ’Tis not the deeds done outwardly, But inward action proving. ’Tis not the work of enterprise, But ’tis His life confessing; ’Tis not to toil for our success, But ’tis Himself expressing.

The greatest need of men is life. If we live Spirit-filled, Jesusly human lives, obeying the anointing, we as branches abiding in the vine will see much fruit.

Hallelujah, the work in the church should be the outflow of life being experienced and enjoyed through His word. Daily, as life we had experienced we can life minister to others by our abiding, joining and giving Him the ground to fill us....Amen.
In the Christian life and in the church life, as well as in the New Testament ministry, there is the balance between life and labor in needful activity. This balance is exemplified in the parables of the virgins and of the talents in Matthew 25, with the former emphasizing life and the latter emphasizing labor. "Spiritual" people may talk much about life and anointing but disparage labor in and for the Lord as mere religious activity. If one does not learn to labor for God's interests, the normalcy of his "inner life" may be subject to question. The Apostle Paul was surely rich in life, but he labored abundantly (1 Cor. 15:10; Col. 11:28-29). We also should be rich in life and diligent in labor. Of course, we should also avoid the extreme of laboring in ourselves and in our natural life and ability instead of in the grace of God. We need to work by the overflow of life. "The overflow of life is work,/ The work should be our living" (Hymns, #910). Yes, we need the inner life, but this life needs to overflow as work. To have a life that is merely "inner" but that does not overflow as work and in work is to be unbalanced and perhaps subject to a dispositional bias in favor of spirituality at the expense of labor in needful activity.
