Safe in the arms of Jesus

1
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
  Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
  Sweetly my soul doth rest.
Hark! ’tis a song of heaven
  Borne in the sweetest voice,
Echoed by saints in spirit,
  Making my heart rejoice.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
  Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded,
    Sweetly my soul doth rest.
2
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
  Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world’s temptations,
  Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
  Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
  Only a few more tears.
3
Jesus, my heart’s dear Refuge,
  Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages
  Ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience,
Wait till the night is o’er,
Wait till I see the morning
  Break on the golden shore.

At a ladies group Bible study last week, we were discussing the Las Vegas shooting and one of the ladies commented "Where can you be safe any more?" Immediately Father put the title words to this beautiful hymn on my lips. I haven't heard this hymn in many years, but Father knew the response needed to her question! Praise His holy name!

That last line...'sweetly my soul shall rest' brings peace and hope to my heart.

I have known this Hymn since I was a child. Fanny J Crosby of blessed memory composed it. Though a powerful song, the present day church hardly knows nor sings it. May God visit His church with true riches and comfort as reflected in this Hynm. An urgent need of revivsl indeed.

How I love the sweet, comforting words of this song! It gives me the assurance that in Jesus gentle and loving arms, through the storms of life I am always safe and secure!

I woke up this morning with a heavy heart ruminating over all the challenges that I have been going through over the past months. And before I could settle down to have my quiet time, the Holy Spirit just ministered this song to me and I started singing it. With these comforting words, I know I'm Safe in the arms of Jesus and sweetly my soul doth rest. Almighty God, Your word is yea and amen, it cannot return to You void. I have faith that I am safe in Your arms. No weapon formed against me shall prosper in the awesome name of Jesus.

This song reminds me of my fellow Spiritual Brother Ray Votaw who taught me God's word.

Safe in the arms of Jesus has blessed my heart this morning as I sit missing our dear Grandson Levi who went to heaven on April 4 2014. His life verse was Romans 8:18. He was A sweet witness to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus in whose loving arms he rests. Thank God for His unspeakable gift.

I have always loved The Lord and hymns are the most inspirational when one is deeply in prayer recognizing the presence and comfort of the Holy Spirit. This is where I am now, praying for a very very dear friend. The Holy Spirit popped this hymn in my heart and I just had to recall every single word in each stanza of the hymn. Now I know God has a word for me for my friend's situation. It is well so I no longer worry. Praise The Lord and His infinite wisdom. Amen.

Do not consider this as a hymn used during a funeral. Do not wait until you die to enjoy the arms of Jesus when you can enjoy them today. The hymns we sing in the home meetings need not be fully in line with the fellowship in the meeting. Do not be legal. The hymns we select depend fully on whether we have the Spirit or not. If in your daily life you let the Lord make home in you, and if you are being transformed into His image by beholding His glory with unveiled face, then He will lead you. You will sense the nourishing and comforting within. The Lord may give you a hymn. Then you come to the meeting. You may be the first one in the meeting, but you do not need to wait for others. You just begin to sing, "Safe in the arms of Jesus...." As you sing you bring the spiritual atmosphere into the meeting. Those who come later will join the singing and the meeting will begin spontaneously.
