When is the time to trust? Is it when friends are true? Is it when comforts woo In all we say and do? Nay! but the time to trust Is when we stand alone, And summer birds have flown, And every prop is gone.

When is the time to trust? Is it when hopes beat high, When sunshine gilds the sky With joy and ecstasy? Nay! but the time to trust Is when our joy has fled, When sorrow bows the head, And all is cold and dead.
Not only has this poem minister to me in time ... when all else was brutal and difficult to bear..
BUT, I was able to share this with many others . .. one being the wife of a well known ... (national product) ... - gent. His wife had known I served in ministry... and at 6:00 am - she called and said.... you have faced something similar.... I need to chat.....!!!
This hymn (with "Say to this mountain", "Utterly abandoned", & "I have been through the valley of sorrow") appears as a poem in the daily devotional book "Streams in the Desert,
