Jesus shall reign where’er the sun

1
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Doth his successive journeys run;
His Kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.
2
To Him shall endless prayer be made.
And princes throng to crown His head,
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice.
3
People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song;
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His name.
4
Blessings abound where’er He reigns:
The prisoner leaps to lose his chains,
The weary find eternal rest,
And all the sons of want are blest.
5
Where He displays His healing power
Death and the curse are known no more;
In Him the tribes of Adam boast
More blessings than their father lost.
6
Let every creature rise and bring
Peculiar honors to our King;
Angels descend with songs again,
And earth repeat the loud Amen.

The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever... Rev. 11:15b

A Powerful hymn that RESOUNDS with the scripture above.

Indeed our Lord shall reign forever.

I love this hymn. Takes me back to when my father was alive and we all sat in the living room with our bibles, studying and singing hymns.

I especially love the the verse: In Him the tribes of Adam boast more blessings than their father lost.

It just makes me smile and makes me so grateful for salvation.

I fully agree with Michael Salmon's comment. John Kelly from Bangor (near us) wrote some amazing new tunes to many of the old beautiful hymns in the late 1970's. I used to go to his meetings which were truly wonderful!

My wife and I love to sing this hymn to the tune written by John Kelly of Bangor in N Ireland, who wrote a number of new tunes for old hymns.

This hymn is of the sure second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, when the devil shall be put to flight forever.

In the first conning, Jesus the God- man saviour lived a sinless life, and died having taken our sins in His body on the cross, and so paid the penalty for our guilt and punishment. But because He was sinless, He did not deserve to die, and He rose from the dead three days later.

If we repent of our sin and unbelief, and believe the gospel, (Mark 1) we shall be saved and born again and go to Heaven, because of God's matchless love for us in Christ (Romans 10 verse 9, John 3 verse 3 and verse 16).
