There is sunshine in my soul today

1
There is sunshine in my soul today,
  More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
  For Jesus is my light.
  O there’s sunshine, blessed sunshine,
While the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face
  There is sunshine in my soul.
2
There is music in my soul today,
  A carol to my King;
And Jesus, listening, can hear
  The song I cannot sing.
3
There is springtime in my soul today,
  For when the Lord is near
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
  The flowers of grace appear.
4
There is gladness in my soul today,
  And hope, and praise, and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
  For joys laid up above.

This song is new to me but I love it! It describes how blessed my day was today! This last year was difficult for me but the Lord alone has carried me through and made it go by fast. Oh the joy we have keeping a relationship with our Lord. We fail often but he never has and never will!

Oh my blessed friends... if you love this song, you love God!!!!

And if you love God, this song rings all over the world, again, again, and again.

Peace to everyone..... do your best to let the world share in this good news, through music!!!!!!

Someone sent this song for my Birthday. It was dreary outside but you can always have sunshine in your soul with Jesus in your Life! So true is that! A good Birthday Present.

I particularly like to sing this song during bleak winter weather.

Never heard this until pastor suggested it for my Daddy's funeral a few days ago. Sounds like what you feel when looking at Jesus.

I grew up in a church with hymns but attend a contemporary church now. So I do not hear hymns as often. For some reason, obviously God's reason, this popped in my head today and I've been singing the chorus over and over. I think it's my spirit testifying to the Spirit of God.

Miss Eliza (Edmunds should be spelled with a "u" rather than "o".) Hewitt was a school teacher but became debilitated by a spinal condition that may have come from a boy striking her in the back with a heavy slate while he was being disciplined. She was put in a heavy cast for 6 months. She wrote this hymn after getting her body cast off and being allowed a walk in the nearby park, in thankfulness at the joy of being able to get about again! (more on her under the hymn "My Faith has Found a Resting Place".) - from bereanbibleheritage

'Thank You Lord' for the internet! I have found this wonderful hymn after 50 years. It was a special hymn in my local church in Yorkshire, always the favourite of a blind preacher who often visited us - I remember how his face always shone when he sang this hymn & he was such a wonderful storyteller.

Every so often music memories provide a relief and an uplift that is unexpected. This morning I was struggling with an interpersonal relationship memory that tends to be very depressing. I hit a point when I needed to pray for help to move away from it. Gently, as I prayed, this song came back to me from 50 years ago or more. Now, my sunshine is back.
