Jesus Christ, You are the Man-Savior

NS294

Jesus Christ You are the Man-Savior
Expressing God;
Beautifully, sweetly, and pleasantly.
1
Jesus Christ, the genuine, complete,
Moral, perfect Man revealing God;
In His saving grace to fallen man,
In the Jubilee of grace.

Jesus Christ You are the God-Man—
The reality,
The reality of the Jubilee.
2
Tell me all about the Shepherd Who
Left the ninety-nine to find the lost sheep;
How You came to earth to search for me,
And came rejoicing when You found me.
(Repeat Chorus 1)
3
Tell me all about the Woman Who
Lit the lamp and swept
Throughout the whole house,
Seeking everywhere to find one coin!
I'm so glad the Spirit found me!
(Repeat Chorus 2)
4
Tell me all about the Father who
Waited every day to greet His lost son;
Kissed his neck
And gave him the finest robe,
And brought him back into the household.
(Repeat Chorus 1)

This song was written based on two banners we had during a high school conference on the Gospel of Luke in Arlington, TX many years ago. I was very impressed that the Gospel of Luke portrays Christ as a genuine, moral, perfect man, while also expressing God in His divinity in the highest human virtues.

The Gospel reveals that Jesus commenced His ministry by reading from Isaiah, clearly indicating that Isaiah prophesied concerning Him as the anointed one who came to proclaim the reality of God's jubilee, wherein all men in whatever kind of bondage they suffered, were released by Him in His saving grace to fallen man. Thus this whole Gospel is just the glad proclamation of freedom, of the real jubilee!

Also, this Gospel tells us that Jesus would go in the morning to speak in the court of the temple, "as was His custom". I could just picture Him speaking in the freshness of the morning to His loving seekers who were also described as, "hanging on His words". Thus this song is written from their perspective, repeatedly asking Him, "tell me all about..." as they eagerly received His declaring of the jubilee of grace as the expression of the Triune God's loving heart in the three aspects of the Good Shepherd, the fine, seeking Woman, and the joyful, welcoming Father as in chapter 15. It seems they could not get enough.

Perhaps 30 or 40 years later, I still feel that way today.

It reminds me that the Lord Jesus is our real Jubilee. He is our rest and satisfaction. When we're in the Lord in our regenerated spirit, everything is all right; no pain, no sadness, no anxiousness.
